About this Website

The ATA Education website aims to provide high-level educational material on NATO. The target groups for these materials include teachers, NGOs and others who educate on NATO, international relations, and security issues. The website provides academic analysis, and teaching materials which are comprehensive and easy to use. All of the material on the web page has been developed in cooperation with university professors or high school teachers to ensure academic validity and reliability.

A key feature of this website is The NATO Educational Toolkit, which consists of twelve teaching modules on NATO. These modules allow lecturers to choose from a broad range of NATO topics to present to their class/audience. Each of the modules includes a basic introduction to NATO, an in-depth analysis of one or more NATO-specific topics, and political models for analyzing NATO's place in international relations. The aim of The NATO Educational Toolkit is to offer an academic description and analysis of NATO, taking into account its historical and political context in the study of international relations.

On the ATA Education website, you can find articles which correspond to the contents of each of the teaching modules. These articles are free to download, and can serve as useful handouts for students. Furthermore, workshop questions have been developed to involve the students actively.

The ATA Education website also includes several NATO simulations - providing the means to organize a one-day or two-day seminar on the inner workings of NATO. Furthermore, you can find games, maps, and articles - materials which we hope will be useful in your efforts to teach about NATO.

About the Atlantic Treaty Association

The Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) is the umbrella organization for a network of 40 national NGOs working to generate information and foster debate on NATO. As such, the ATA aims to support a strong international civil society.

The ATA regularly organizes seminars on the national, regional and international levels; helping educators and students understand issues related to NATO, EU, UN, and the current political environment.

The ATA's educational dimension was created with the objective to provide non-partisan educational material on NATO. As such, it supplies teachers, from NATO member and partner countries, with high caliber educational material in an effort to inform the youth of the ATA countries about NATO, security issues, and the broader study of international relations.
